Just installed my TPCAST for Oculus. Everything works. The picture is as good as the cable. My transmitter does not make any noise. I did notice a tiny bit of lag a couple of times but the rest of the time no problem.

I had to re-setup my guardian system. Somehow it got out of whack during installation but after re-setting it up it works perfectly.

It is a weird feeling being able to walk around without worrying about tripping over the cable. I do plan to do the upgrade with the Open TP cast software. I wanted to test everything first before doing that. It fixes the microphone and lag problems.

You do have to pay $25 for a lifetime license. I will post again after using it a bit.

Well there is a fix from TPCast for the missing Microphone support (For the Vive) But the TPCast support will not tell you about it! I had to chase business support to get it, and after a while they pointed me to find it. They will not make it public as you need to open up the battery unit remove the MicroSD card. Then back it up and re-flash it with new SW fixing that problem and other.

You then also needs to install the a tweaked PC Client SW (replacing the original one.) (Remember to pair the transmitter and receiver after all has been done.) Not that hard to install/upgrade 4 screws needed to be removed. Snap up the case in the back end, remove the MicroSD card Backup the original SW or use a new 8GB MicroSD card (I used a Class 10 one) Write down the new SW to the card, and insert it in the slot and tighten the screws! (You need a MicroSD card reader (USB adapter) and a screwdriver!) So there is no need to go for the Open TPCast and buy a license for it.

However, this was for the TPCast for the HTC Vive! Fixed the Microphone problem! Fixed some green lines appearing in the HMD! So it's worth doing it!

Works well, but support from TPCast is strange, not willing to telling you about the fix! Asked them to put it up on the FAQ, but they told me it was only for Geeks and hardcore users really needing it. This patch needs to work with a specific Connection Assistant software designed for microphone support. Users take their own risk for possible hardware or software failure for wrong operations. To enable microphone function, you need to open your TPCAST power box to remove and flash the SD Card with a new Mic supporting firmware.

We recommend saving a backup of the old image file from the current SD Card to be able to restore the device to factory settings or use a new SD Card instead. Following tools are needed: PC, Screwdriver, Card reader (optional SD Card) Please download following software to enable your TPCAST wireless adapter to support microphone function. Backup / flashing tools：Win32DiskImager-0.9.5-install.exe Mic supporting firmware compressed package: tpcastmic.zip Mic supporting connection assistant：TPCAST VIVE Setupmic.exe 1. Open the battery box and take out the SD card.

Loosen the 4 screws on the buttom side of your battery box to open it. Pull both sides apart from each other and you will see the board where the SD Cards is placed.

Pull out the SD Card. Backup old image file from the current SD card (or use new SD card) a) First install the software tool: Win32DiskImager-0.9.5-install.exe. Double-click the downloaded Win32DiskImager-0.9.5-install icon to open installation interface b) When installed right click Win32DiskImager icon at the desktop and select “Run as administrator” c) Insert SD card into the card reader, then connect the card reader with the computer d) Choose a directory (such as E:/tpcastimg/) and file name (such as tpcast.img, file suffix must be.img), then click the “Read” button e) Right after you have clicked the button “Read”, the image saved on the SD card has been successfully backed up to the directory in step 3 (E:/tpcastimg/tpcast.img) 3. Flash the new image to the current SD Card (optional use new SD Card) 1. Connect the SD Card with your computer 2. Start Win32 DiskImageer 3. Select the correct drive for your SD Card from the device drop down list 4.

Select the downloaded compressed file (click the folder icon) “tpcastmic.img” and click the “Write” button 5. Right after you have clicked the button “Write” a pop up appears “Write Successful”, flashing completed 4. Install the SD card and new connection assistant software 1. Insert the current SD Card into the original position of the power box and install power box 2. Uninstall old connection assistant, restart computer and install new version of the connection assistant “TPCAST VIVE Setupmic.exe”.

Follow the normal procedure to connect the wireless adapter, verify microphone and confirm, then assemble the screws. If the power box is not properly used after flashing 1. Take out the SD card and try to re-flash “tpcastmic.img”file according to above steps. If re-flashing still fails, the SD card can be restored with old image through the tool. Please uninstall Connection Assistant with microphone function, then restart the computer. Install the old version of Connection Assistant.

As requested here is an update on my TPcast and Oculus CV1. Well after upgrading to the openTPcast everything was working great. Tonight I tried to use it again and it no longer works. After several hours troubleshooting I am ready to give up on it. The lights on the headset and transmitter flash indicating they are paired but Oculus software says it cannot find headset and my CV1 stays dark in standby mode. I guess it is back to the cable and this is going back to TPcast.

Its really a shame because when it worked it was great. I cannot recommend anyone buy this. It is just not reliable enough. It is fixed and working perfectly again. Well I was about to disconnect it and send it back when I thought about it. Why can't Oculus program see headset.

I know the regular TPcast has a connect icon which boots everything you have to click. So I went to downloads and clicked on the Vhui64.exe which is the licensed USB control software you download. A small window popped up which Showed USB and under it TPcast.

Under that Rift and Rift mic which both said in use by you. The transmitter and receiver had both stopped blinking fast and gone to a solid green. I picked up the CV1 and instead of the orange standby light it was white. I put it on and I was in VR!

It would have been nice if somewhere they had said something about this. Anyway that apparently is why It did not work. You have to turn on the server. So I have put a shortcut on the desktop for this so I can click on it when I want to use my Oculus. Of course I am keeping it now. I spent 2 hours playing with it tonight. I looked at the sides but there is no blue line, no green line or blue haze.

The picture is perfect. No lag and perfect tracking. I will report again in a few days and let you all know if it keeps working or something else goes wrong.
