If you have multiple mods installed, it might be just that your mods are incompatible with each other. Many modders list their overrides and known compatibility issues in their mods description page. As a general rule of a thumb, if two mods have same override listed, they will not work together. They might work if the load order is correct in some fashion, but in any case parts of the mod will not work. If you do not find a list, or you want to do that in a little easier way, you can use the 3rd party launcher XCOM Mod Launcher ( download updated version free from ). When running the launcher, you will get a list of all the mods it can find.

Select all of those you want to use. If there is an override issue with other mod, it will turn red in the list and more accurate description of the issue can be found from the 'Overrides' tab. If there is a conflict found, you might be out of luck. If you feel like trying to work it out, check out chapter 4. Do note that if you use Steam Workshop for your mod installation, mod maker might at any time release a new version of their mod which may add another override, so just because something was fine yesterday, it doesn't mean you shouldn't recheck the compatibility again today if there are issues.

Most commonly I've found out that there is an issue with the ini files, due to either removed / uninstalled mods or updated mods which did not remove their previous settings. This can in some cases even cause crashes in some parts of the game, but it's easy enough to fix. To get to your ini files, go to your file explorer and go to documents my games XCOM2 XComGame (If you don't know how to find your documents folder, try finding answer from google. The location may wary from operating system to another) There you should see a folder called 'Config'. You can safely right click it and rename it to what ever, for example 'Configx'. You can always remove the new Config folder the game creates and rename 'Configx' back to 'Config' to restore old settings, but really all you will lose is your modifications to ini files (if you have made any) and the game settings (like grahpics options etc).

Go back to your Steam, and launch the game normally from steam (do not use the MOD launcher from 1. Paragraph of this guide, as it won't work without the 'Config' folder). This will recreate the Config folder we previously renamed and create all the required ini files inside it. When the launcher loads up, select only the mod you have problems with and launch the game.

See if the mod works. If it does, you can quit the game, re-enable all the mods you want to play with and check them again in game.

If the mod doesn't work anymore, you can safely assume that it is because of one of the other mods. At that point, if no conflicts have been detected by the previous paragraph guide, you just have to disable and enable the mods in chunks or by one at a time to find what mods cause the issue.

If two mods have same override, some times it can be worked around by adjusting the load order. One way to do that is to unsubscribe and resubscribe to a mod. Or you can use the XCOM Mod Launcher mentioned in the first chapter (thanks MadDog on comments for pointing this out). 1) First you probably want to order your mod list by 'Order' field to see what order mods are loaded currently. Higher number means last, ie.

They will override mods which were loaded before them. 2) Double click the 'order' field of the mod which load order you wish to change. It should open up so you can change the number. You can now enter what ever number you want to, ie.

Change 10 to 100 to load that mod later. 3) Then go to 'File' in the top and 'Save'. Now you can run the game with new mod order. So what will happend when you switch mod order? For an easy example, let's take my Ammo and Vest Slots mod and a good mod I've been using Make Primary Weapons Available. What my mod does, it adds extra slots to soldiers where you can equip ammo and vest items.

Make Primary Weapons Available adds two buttons to strip all primary weapons from soldiers, one in Squad Selection screen, one in Armory screen. Both mods override the Armory screen to do their thing. If Make Primary Weapons has higher order, it will create it's button in Armory and completely breaks Ammo and Vest Slots functionality. However, if Ammo and Vest Slots has higher order, both mods will work fine but the Strip Primary Weapons button in the Armory screen will not show up. So, when ever you play around with the load order on conflicting mods, do note that some of the functionality of one of the mods will be broken afterwards. It's just question of what functionality is critical to what mod and what is the end result you want.
