Well, rfkill looks ok so your wireless key board key is not blocking connection. Everything shows no so the wireless key is not blocking your connection.
Your iwlist readout shows 2 access points. One is wpa 'schumania' which I am guessing is your router since that is your user name here. What problem are you having connecting with in Mint. Have you entered your wpa passkey when trying to connect in Mints Network Manager, since everything looks OK from my end here I'm am kinda at a loss here on why you can't connect.

Firefox 12 (which is busy updating to Firefox 13 as I am typing this) runs real slow on this P3 laptop with 376MB of ram but I run OK on this old Laptop. So after looking at all your readouts in your postings.
You should be able to connect real easy out of the box in Mint Linux. Maybe a Linux Mint user can chime in here that is using whichever desktop (Mate or Cinnimon) because you have not mentioned yet what desktop you are using and why network manager won't connect. If I uncheck the box I can then manually enter the ESSID, the wpa password and the router information. Should I go ahead and do that? It seems like that won't matter since when the wireless button is pushed it constantly flashes on and off.
Thanks again! When I go into network settings, then wireless connection the box is checked for roaming mode enabled. If I uncheck the box I can then manually enter the ESSID, the wpa password and the router information.
Should I go ahead and do that? If you want to. I connect fine just using Auto on wpa2-psk wireless usb in my IBM Motorcycle Shop Desktop in Gnome on Ubuntu. Maybe a picture may worth worth a thousand words here. You should not have to untick anything (like roaming) or worry about flashing lights. Just connect.

I think you are making this harder on your self than need be. Just as a heads up the bold text are sites I referenced, but I'm not allowed to post links yet do to my upstart status, so please copy and paste those into your browser. I've been doing more research on my problem and I have found in other forms people having the same problem. I've seen this discussion referenced several time ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=740632 as a solution, but I'm not really following what was done to fix his problem. Also, it seems that the crux of this problem is if b44 is loaded before the ndiswrapper the wireless network will not work. I think this is relevant: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/214917 I'm not opposed to switching distros, but it seems like this problem will occure regardless. If I switch to Ubuntu though it seems like these links will give a clear guide on how to fix the problem.
Any thoughts?
